We built BrainRivals to be a place where you can test your cognitive skills without worrying about what happens to your data. This page explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.
1. What we collect
We only collect what's necessary to run the platform:
- –Email & username — when you create an account.
- –Your scores — the results of the tests you take, used to power your profile and track your progress.
- –Profile settings — your avatar, country, and display name.
- –Automatic leaderboard publication — when a signed-in score is successfully saved, it is automatically considered for eligible leaderboards. The public board shows your username, score, task, and country-code snapshot captured when the score is saved. It does not expose the score ID or exact completion time, and you can remove it from the leaderboard through your profile history.
- –Operational request data — our hosting and security providers process ordinary request details, such as the requested path, browser information, and network address, to deliver and protect the service.
- –Operational diagnostics — limited error and score-save failure signals so we can find and fix platform issues.
- –Optional result sharing — using a result-share control creates a random public link that shows your username, score, task, and completion date. The link is not created merely by saving a score, does not contain the score's database ID, and can be revoked from your score history.
If you play as a guest, guest scores and raw test results stay in your browser and are not sent through our product-analytics endpoint. Ordinary web requests and limited operational diagnostics may still reach the providers that deliver and protect the site.
2. How we use it
- –To show your scores, rank, and progress on your profile.
- –To keep your account secure.
- –To detect broken flows, failed score saves, and other reliability issues.
We do not sell your data. When advertising is disabled, we do not disclose browser or device data for advertising. If advertising is enabled, Google may process that limited data as described in Sections 3 and 4. Anonymous product analytics are currently disabled.
3. Cookies
When you sign in, we use authentication and security cookies needed to keep your session working safely. Advertising is currently disabled, and the site does not load Google AdSense scripts or set advertising cookies.
4. Third parties
We don't sell your data. We use hosting and CDN providers to deliver and protect the site, an error-monitoring provider to diagnose failures, and an OAuth provider when you choose to sign in. These providers process only the information needed for their role. Google AdSense is not currently active.
5. Your rights
You're always in control:
- –Delete your account — contact us and we'll remove everything within 7 days.
- –Update your info — change your username, country, or avatar from your profile page anytime.
- –Remove a public score — remove an individual result from the leaderboard in your profile history. Another eligible saved result may still represent you on that test's leaderboard.
- –Play without an account — guest mode is always available, no sign-up required.
6. Data retention
Account and score data is kept while your account exists. In-app operational diagnostics are subject to an automated 30-day deletion schedule; infrastructure and error provider logs follow the provider's configured retention period. When you delete your account, we remove the account data under our control within the period described above, subject to security and legal retention needs.
7. Changes
If we update this policy, we'll change the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use BrainRivals after an update means you're okay with the changes.
8. Contact
